Coordinates transactions that span multiple resource managers, such as databases, message queues, and file systems. If this service is stopped, these transactions will not occur. BlackViper.com adds: Automatically takes care of transactions that span multiple resources. This service is required if using Message Queuing. You may also see complaints in the Event Log if this service is disabled, but I have experienced no side effects. Microsoft's .NET may require this service in the future.
